Çatalca storage

From Çatalca the road to our depot in Sancaktepe is about 83 to 146 km depending on the address, and every pickup crosses the Bosphorus. A flat in the old centre and a village house on the coast can go to the same rooms; we plan pickup day, route and vehicle spot at the free survey.

Why Çatalca looks for storage: a renewing centre, scattered villages

The Kaymakamlık (district governorate) and municipality history pages give Çatalca as Istanbul's largest district by area, 1,115.11 km², 56 km from the city centre, with 39 muhtarlık (neighbourhood) offices. We found no population figure, so we give none. The map shows the most buildings in Hallaçlı (2,232), then Ferhatpaşa (784) and Kaleiçi (364). Level data is mapped well enough for an average in only 7 of 39 neighbourhoods (1–3 levels, on 1–7 percent of buildings), so we do not guess the housing type.

The clearest documented reason is renewal in the centre: the municipality's list of demolished buildings has 16 entries between 26.12.2025 and 23.09.2026, all in Ferhatpaşa and Kaleiçi, and it plans rent support for owners and moving support for tenants. For the coastal villages there is no official data on seasonal needs; storing summer-house furniture off-season may make sense, but it is not a documented need.

From Çatalca to Sancaktepe: a road from 83 to 146 km

Çatalca lies at the western end of the European side and our depot on the Anatolian side, so every pickup and delivery crosses the Bosphorus. Our OSRM / OpenStreetMap car estimate (September 2026): Bahşayiş 83.1 km and 61 minutes without traffic, the Çatalca centre 116.6 km and 98 minutes, Fatih neighbourhood (Binkılıç side) 146.0 km and 135 minutes. A loaded vehicle may differ; we promise no time.

On the map 34 of 39 neighbourhoods show 0 percent of local streets as narrow or one-way; İnceğiz, Karamandere, Kızılcaali, Oklalı and Subaşı show 1 percent. Untagged roads are not counted, so we ask about rural roads at the survey. The steep share is highest in Kızılcaali (52 percent) and Akalan (44 percent). Parking areas are mapped in only 6 neighbourhoods. We found no municipal rule on moving vehicles. A Thursday market runs in the centre, on Şehit Uzay Kişin Sokak according to a 2024 municipal news item.

From Bahşayiş to Binkılıç: access data for six neighbourhoods

These six neighbourhoods span from flat Bahşayiş at 83.1 km to Binkılıç–Fatih at 146.0 km and steep Akalan (44 percent steep). Read surface-model grades relative to one another.

  • Bahşayiş Mahallesi

Our closest measured point: 83.1 km, 61 minutes without traffic. 11 km of local streets over 9.215 km², steep share 3 percent, mean grade 1.9 percent; 256 buildings without level data, one parking area.

  • Ferhatpaşa Mahallesi

The town centre: 69.4 km of local and 27.9 km of through roads, 784 buildings, no level data. Steep share 29 percent, mean grade 4.4 percent, 5 mapped parking areas. One resident writes that many apartment blocks from the 1980s and 1990s line Atatürk Caddesi.

  • Kaleiçi Mahallesi

Kaymakamlık, municipality and police sit here. Only 1 percent of 364 buildings carry level data, averaging 2 levels. Steep share 22 percent, 2 parking areas. The municipality says it rearranged traffic on the Kuzey Marmara Otoyolu link road here.

  • Yalıköy Mahallesi

On the Black Sea coast, 80.54 km², second largest after Fatih, host to one of the beaches in the Kaymakamlık beach order. Steep share 32 percent, mean grade 4.8 percent; no level or parking data. One resident writes that house renovation picked up after natural gas arrived.

  • Akalan Mahallesi

Steep share 44 percent across 7.3 km of local streets, mean grade 5.9 percent; 62 buildings, no level or parking data. An August 2026 municipal news item reports 5.6 km of the Akalan–Kalfa–Başak forest road open to take heavy vehicles off neighbourhood streets.

  • Fatih Mahallesi

Listed by the municipality as Binkılıç–Fatih. At 169.343 km² the largest neighbourhood and our farthest point: 146.0 km, 135 minutes without traffic. Steep share 36 percent, 124 buildings. One writer calls the road beyond Çatalca narrow and long through forest; we plan the route at the survey.

Preparations that make a long road easier

  1. 1.Village-house refit or flat in renewal: choosing the room

Rooms are 8 m³ for a 1+0, 15 m³ for a 1+1, 22 m³ for a 2+1 and 28 m³ for a 3+1. A few pieces set aside during a village-house renovation or garden furniture usually fit the 8 m³ room; a whole flat emptied by renewal in Ferhatpaşa or Kaleiçi is more comfortable in the room matching its size. We measure at the survey.

  2. 2.Pack so one trip collects everything

Take wardrobes apart and label boxes by room. With 83–146 km to cover, every box left behind means another trip.

  3. 3.On a steep village road, discuss walking distance

In Akalan, Kızılcaali or Yalıköy we ask at the survey how close the vehicle can get.

  4. 4.In the centre: market day and building rules

In Kaleiçi and Ferhatpaşa, find out whether there is a lift and what the management's rule is. Near the Thursday market, ask for another day or stopping point; if renewal is why you leave, tell us the vacating date.

Questions about storage in Çatalca

Do you collect from a house in a village or on the coast?

Çatalca is within Istanbul and we collect from the door; pickup day, last reachable point and route are set at the free survey.

I am leaving my home in the centre because of urban renewal; where do I start?

Rent and moving support are the municipality's own process (Çatalca Yenileniyor pages, Urban Renewal Directorate, 444 61 02). Separate what goes into the room from what is thrown away and tell us the vacating date.

What if the vehicle cannot reach the front of the house?

Boxes are carried by hand from the last point the vehicle can stop; we discuss walking distance and crew size at the survey, especially in steep Kızılcaali or Akalan.

Does the Thursday market affect the pickup day?

A 2024 municipal news item places the Thursday market on Şehit Uzay Kişin Sokak. Parking nearby may be harder; we can choose another day or stopping point.
