Where the need for storage in Şile comes from

The municipality's muhtar list names 62 neighbourhoods, most of village origin, and the municipality presents the district's 8 beaches one by one. The mapped data fits that picture: 33 neighbourhoods have 10 or fewer mapped buildings, and an average storey count exists in only 7, between 1.5 (Yeniköy) and 4 (Çavuş). Storey data is missing for most buildings, so we do not guess flat types.

Residents describe a seasonal district: crowded coast and centre in summer, many shops closed in winter. Keeping summer-house belongings in a room off-season may make sense, but we do not present it as a proven need. On urban transformation the official record is quiet: we found no Şile item in İBB's project list, and the municipality has no Urban Transformation Directorate. Even so, storing furniture while a home or summer house is renovated is a valid reason.

From Şile to the depot in Sancaktepe

Şile is on the Anatolian side, and so is our depot; there is no Bosphorus crossing, but the distance is long. Our car-profile calculation with OSRM / OpenStreetMap in September 2026 gives 36.6 km and 60 minutes for Esenceli, 53.0 km and 56 minutes for the Şile centre, and 83.8 km and 83 minutes for Çelebi. These are free-flow estimates; a loaded vehicle may take longer. Residents write of return-direction congestion on summer weekends, so we choose the day together at the survey.

In 55 of 62 neighbourhoods the narrow or one-way share of local streets is 0 percent; the highest shares are in Kömürlük (69 percent), Yeniköy (24 percent), Hacı Kasım (17 percent) and Kervansaray (11 percent). Steep share is 60 percent in Şuayipli and 57 percent in Akçakese, but 3 percent in Kumbaba. Only 14 neighbourhoods have a mapped parking area. The municipality's road maintenance page lists stabilised roads and snow clearing, so unpaved lanes and winter conditions may matter in rural parts. We found no moving-vehicle rule; the by-law on orders and bans adopted in September 2026 is a DOCX we could not read.

Six of 62 neighbourhoods, from Kumbaba to Akçakese

From 62 neighbourhoods we picked the six whose data differs most. Shares come from OpenStreetMap and the Copernicus surface model; read slope as an indication.

  • Kumbaba Mahallesi

1,028 buildings on 1.825 km²; storey data for 42 percent, averaging 2. Steep share 3 percent, no narrow lanes. One of the easiest surfaces for heavy items; vehicle access along the beach line may be limited.

  • Çavuş Mahallesi

In 56 km of local streets the narrow share is 1 percent and the steep share 28. 923 buildings and 11 parking areas are mapped. Parking is easy; in apartment blocks the lift question comes first.

  • Hacı Kasım Mahallesi

A small neighbourhood of 0.219 km²: 17 percent of streets are narrow and 17 percent one-way, with one parking area. Plan the vehicle's waiting place in advance.

  • Kömürlük Mahallesi

Narrow share of 69 percent is the district's highest, yet local streets total only 1.1 km. Steep share 38 percent; 34 buildings. Confirm at the survey whether a vehicle can reach the door.

  • Yeniköy Mahallesi

Only 7 buildings are mapped on 22.026 km². Narrow share 24 percent, steep share 44. With scattered single-storey houses, distance and lane width set the load.

  • Akçakese Mahallesi

Average grade 8.3 percent and steep share 57; 166 buildings, no parking area. The problem is the slope, not width (0 percent); plan short carries.

Long road, beach complexes and rural lanes: notes for Şile

  1. 1.Room size for summer-house and garden furniture

Our rooms are 8 m³ for a 1+0, 15 m³ for a 1+1, 22 m³ for a 2+1 and 28 m³ for a 3+1. If only summer-house furniture and garden items are waiting, a small room usually does; we confirm the size at the survey.

  2. 2.Fit the trip into one run

With a long distance, collecting everything in one round is easier. Take furniture apart beforehand and label the boxes.

  3. 3.Ask about the estate gate

In seaside estates, ask the management whether a vehicle may enter. If not, belongings are carried on foot; we measure that distance at the survey.

  4. 4.Mention steep or unpaved lanes

In Şuayipli, Akçakese or on unpaved roads, discuss how far a vehicle can climb; heavy pieces may need a separate trip.

  5. 5.Keep rubble out of the room

After a renovation, the municipality collects bulky waste under a tariff; the call centre is 444 74 53. The page gives no application day.
