Why storage is needed in Bahçelievler: demolition and rebuilding
The Governorate's population page shows 594,053 people (2018 census); Zafer is the most populous neighbourhood (84,309), Fevzi Çakmak the least (25,851). Its history page says the district filled with taller buildings from 1978 on. Where building levels are widely mapped, in five neighbourhoods, the mean is 4.8 to 6.0 storeys: Bahçelievler 4.8, Kocasinan Merkez 5.1, Hürriyet 5.6, Şirinevler 5.7, Siyavuşpaşa 6.0. In the other six, level data covers at most 3 % of buildings or is missing; Yenibosna Merkez's 17.5-storey mean rests on 1 % of its buildings.
The Municipality's news item of 29.09.2026 says 51,221 independent units have been renewed since 2019; in the first eight months of 2026, 1,190 buildings were demolished and 710 permits issued. These are its own figures. A room helps until the new flat is ready, during renovation, or between two homes. On Ekşi Sözlük residents write of construction on every street; that is an impression, not official data.

Bahçelievler is on the European side, so from Mehmet Akif to our Anatolian-side depot the vehicle goes over the Bosphorus. A passenger-car estimate from OSRM / OpenStreetMap, September 2026, gives about 42–46 km and 35–40 minutes without traffic: 41.8 km and 37 minutes for Mehmet Akif, 45.9 km and 39 minutes for the district's weighted centre. A loaded vehicle may differ.
The narrow or one-way share of local streets is 49 % in Zafer, 48 % in Fevzi Çakmak, 3 % in Cumhuriyet. The steep share is highest in Hürriyet and Siyavuşpaşa at 52 %, lowest in Bahçelievler neighbourhood at 23 %. Hürriyet and Soğanlı have no mapped parking area. We found no Municipality rule for removal vehicles, so we assess the vehicle spot at each address.
Six neighbourhoods from Zafer to Yenibosna Merkez, street by street
Six of the eleven neighbourhoods, chosen where data differs most. Shares rest on OpenStreetMap and the Copernicus surface model; read slope as an indication. Narrow or one-way share is the proportion of local street length.
Zafer Mahallesi
49 % of 36.1 km of local streets are narrow or one-way, the district's highest share; the steep share is 35 %. 714 buildings and two parking areas are mapped; level data covers 1 % of buildings. Check the vehicle spot in advance and be ready to carry on foot.
Fevzi Çakmak Mahallesi
In 0.52 km², 48 % of 10.9 km of local streets are narrow or one-way; the steep share is 28 %. 243 buildings are mapped with no level data, plus four parking areas.

Yenibosna Merkez Mahallesi
At 4.41 km² the district's largest neighbourhood; narrow or one-way share 5 %, steep share 30 %. Twelve parking areas total 50,853 m². Level data covers 1 % of buildings, so the 17.5-storey mean is unreliable.

Between building sites and narrow lanes: notes for Bahçelievler
1.Choose the room by what is leaving the home
Rooms are 8 m³ for 1+0, 15 m³ for 1+1, 22 m³ for 2+1 and 28 m³ for 3+1. If a room or two is emptied during renovation, a small room usually suffices; a whole home calls for the matching size. We confirm at the survey.
2.Mention nearby demolition or building sites
If there is demolition, excavation or rubble on your street or the next plot, say so at the survey; we then settle where the vehicle can pull up.
3.Plan in small pieces on narrow streets
In Zafer and Fevzi Çakmak a vehicle may not reach the door. Medium boxes, room-name labels and dismantled wardrobe frames ease hand carrying; split heavy books into small boxes.
4.Count the slope and the stairs
In Hürriyet and Siyavuşpaşa the steep share is 52 % and the mean building is 5.6–6.0 storeys. Tell us at the survey whether there is a lift and whether items fit; dismantle large pieces first.
5.Visit the room once after move-in
You can visit the room any day. Bringing forward the boxes you will need often after the first move-in eases the return to your new home.

Questions about storage in Bahçelievler
How long is the trip from Bahçelievler to the depot in Sancaktepe?
The passenger-car estimate gives about 42–46 km and 35–40 minutes without traffic; the route crosses the Bosphorus, so a loaded vehicle's route and duration may differ. Source: OSRM / OpenStreetMap, September 2026.
Can you collect if there is demolition or construction on our street?
We offer door-to-door pickup. The Municipality reports 1,190 buildings demolished in the first eight months of 2026. We settle the site entrance and where the vehicle can pull up at the survey.
What if the vehicle cannot reach the door in Zafer or Fevzi Çakmak?
There, 48–49 % of local streets are narrow or one-way. If the vehicle cannot get closer, items are carried on foot; we plan around the walking distance seen at the survey.
Can I keep my belongings in storage while emptying a home for urban renewal?
Yes, a room can be taken until the new flat is ready or during renovation. The volume you empty decides the room; if only a few rooms' worth remains, a small room may do.
Do I need a Municipality permit for the moving vehicle?
We found no separate rule for removal vehicles on the Municipality's Municipal Police page; the Orders and Prohibitions PDF was not read. To be sure, call 444 0 311.
