What sends people to storage in Kağıthane
The Municipality gives the district's area as 16 km², its neighbourhood count as 19 and its 2022 population as 455,943. Small flats running short of space is plausible here, though not a measurement. Level data is mapped for 0–2 percent of buildings in most neighbourhoods; the highest are Seyrantepe (12 percent), Gürsel (7 percent) and Talatpaşa (6 percent). Harmantepe shows 13 storeys on average and Çeliktepe 11.5, but in both the tagged share rounds to 0 percent.
The most concrete reason is urban transformation. The Municipality writes that about 1,300 buildings were renewed over seven years, 7,200 units demolished and 12,000 homes built. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality describes the Çağlayan Square and Surroundings Risk Area in Gürsel (declared 17.03.2017, 2.4 hectares), with the pre-contract stage under way. Between evacuating and receiving a new flat, a locked room is a sensible stopgap. Residents write that companies are moving offices in; we could not confirm this officially.
Across the Bosphorus to the depot, and loading
From an address in Çağlayan, Kağıthane, to our depot on the Anatolian side the load crosses the Bosphorus. Our car-profile estimate from OSRM / OpenStreetMap (September 2026) gives 30.2 km and 27 minutes without traffic from Çağlayan, 32.3 km and 27 minutes from the centre and 36.0 km and 28 minutes from Nurtepe. The General Directorate of Highways directs lorries to the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge instead of the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, so route and time can differ with vehicle type; we promise no time.
The highest shares of one-way or narrow local streets are in Çağlayan (43 percent), Telsizler (38 percent) and Hürriyet (34 percent). Slopes are harder: in all 19 neighbourhoods at least 46 percent of streets are steep. The map shows no parking area in Gültepe, Hürriyet, Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Nurtepe, Ortabayır, Şirintepe or Telsizler; residents write that parking is hard to find. The Municipal Police page has no Kağıthane-specific rule on a removals vehicle using the road temporarily; we choose the stopping spot at the survey and suggest you ask them.
From valley floor to hillside: neighbourhood notes
Figures are approximate (OpenStreetMap, Copernicus elevation model); read slopes relative to other neighbourhoods. These six differ most.
Çağlayan Mahallesi
Of 15.6 km of local streets, 43 percent are one-way or narrow, the district's highest share. 9 parking areas are mapped. Near the courthouse residents describe road closures on hearing days.
Telsizler Mahallesi
In this small 0.223 km² neighbourhood, 38 percent of 5.2 km of local streets are one-way or narrow and 65 percent steep; no parking area is mapped. Its 696 buildings average 11 storeys, tagged data rounding to 0 percent.
Şirintepe Mahallesi
The district's highest mean grade, 15.1 percent; 68 percent of streets are steep. Only 3 percent are narrow or one-way, so slope matters more than width.
Gürsel Mahallesi
The highest steep share in the district, 69 percent; mean grade 11.5 percent. Only 54 buildings are mapped (average 8.5 storeys across the 7 percent with level data). The risk area sits here, and the Municipality's 2026 news list mentions renewal of about 400 m on Şevket Paşa Caddesi.
Seyrantepe Mahallesi
15 parking areas, 13.5 per km², the district's densest parking data. Only 6 percent of streets are narrow or one-way, but 58 percent are steep. Level data covers 12 percent of buildings, the highest.
Sultan Selim Mahallesi
With 1,951 buildings it has the most on the map; level data covers only 1 percent of them (averaging 5.4 storeys where tagged). 9 percent of streets are narrow or one-way and 58 percent steep. The Metro Istanbul M2 stop still reads Sanayi Mahallesi, which appears to be the former name; write both names in the address.

From Şirintepe's slope to Çağlayan's narrow streets
1.Your flat type sets the room: choosing in Kağıthane
Rooms are 8 m³ for a 1+0, 15 m³ for a 1+1, 22 m³ for a 2+1 and 28 m³ for a 3+1. A flat's contents usually fit the room of the same name.
2.Gather boxes at the door on narrow streets
In Çağlayan, Telsizler and Hürriyet over a third of local streets are narrow or one-way. Stacking boxes on the ground floor shortens the carry.
3.Separate heavy pieces on slopes
Şirintepe averages a 15.1 percent grade. We can discuss a separate run for the fridge and large wardrobe.
4.Ask management about the lift
The Municipality has announced the obligation to inspect building lifts every year. Ask site management when you may use the freight lift.
5.Keep discards apart from what goes in the room
The Municipality's Cleaning Directorate lists renovation rubble and old household items among its duties; no separate line is published, so ask the Call Centre on 444 23 00.

Questions about storage in Kağıthane
How do belongings get from Kağıthane across the Bosphorus to the depot?
The road is 30.2 km from Çağlayan and 36.0 km from Nurtepe (car estimate). Lorries are directed to the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge; we settle the route at the survey.
What if the vehicle cannot reach the door in a very steep area like Şirintepe or Gürsel?
Boxes are carried by hand to wherever the vehicle can stop; with a mean grade of 15.1 percent in Şirintepe and 69 percent steep streets in Gürsel that distance may be long. We discuss crew size at the survey.
My building is entering urban transformation; what should go in the room?
Evacuation and demolition are the authorities' process. Put in what will not fit the new flat or what you will not use meanwhile.
Can I rent a room for a small office's furniture and archive?
Yes, we collect and deliver door to door within Istanbul. We count cabinets and boxes at the survey and pick a room.
