Sarıyer storage
From Sarıyer, the drive to our depot in Sancaktepe is about 27–56 km and crosses the Bosphorus: the depot is on the Anatolian side, Sarıyer on the European one. From Maslak's tall blocks to the slopes of Rumeli Hisarı, district data shows which room usually fits.

Why Sarıyer households and offices rent storage
In Sarıyer, looking for storage usually means easing a tight flat or a busy office. The District Governor's Office lists 38 mahalle and 344,883 residents, with no year given. Floor-level data on the map is thin: of the 20 mahalle where an average can be computed, none has it for more than 14 percent of buildings. In Maslak it covers 12 percent of buildings and averages 29.1 floors.
İBB's plan-note amendment names only Ayazağa, Maslak and Huzur as mahalle with an approved 1/5000 plan, and its additional plan note leaves out the Bosphorus shoreline and view-protection zone. The September 2026 council news says the mayor raised that even licensed buildings with occupancy permits cannot be renewed because of plan problems. We infer that renovation in place may be more common along the shore; that is our reading, not an official finding. A locked room is a practical stopgap during renovation, or for a student flat's furniture between terms.
From Sarıyer to Sancaktepe: road, slopes and loading
Every pickup and delivery crosses the Bosphorus. We measured three points with OSRM / OpenStreetMap in September 2026: Rumeli Hisarüstü at 27.1 km and 21 minutes without traffic, Hacıosman at 34.3 km and 31 minutes, Sarıyer centre at 55.6 km and 44 minutes. We did not measure Zekeriyaköy, Kilyos or Rumelifeneri; we work those out at the survey. The figures are for a passenger car, and KGM's table sets vehicle-class limits on some bridges, so we discuss the loaded vehicle's route at the survey and promise no duration.
The share of local streets that are one-way or narrow reaches 9 percent or more in only four mahalle: 33 percent in Rumelihisarı, 30 in Maslak, 19 in Merkez, 9 in Darüşşafaka; in 13 mahalle it rounds to 0 percent. Slope matters almost everywhere: 30 of 38 mahalle average a grade above 6 percent, and the steep-street share is 71 percent in Poligon and 70 percent in Kocataş. The municipality says it builds stairs and retaining walls because of the rugged terrain and that fire-engine and ambulance access in dead-end streets is a problem. We found no rule on moving vehicles using the road temporarily.
Mahalle-by-mahalle loading notes
Figures are approximate values computed from OpenStreetMap and the Copernicus elevation model; read grades relatively. We picked the six of 38 mahalle whose data differs most.
Rumelihisarı Mahallesi
0.94 km² with 11.2 km of local streets; 33 percent are one-way or narrow, the district's highest share. 55 percent of streets are steep and the map shows 7 parking areas. The M6 Rumeli Hisarüstü station is here, and the F4 funicular confirms the slope down to Aşiyan Park.
Maslak Mahallesi
5.03 km² with 27.4 km of local streets; 30 percent are one-way or narrow. Average grade is 5.2 percent and 32 percent of streets are steep: the difficulty is the entrance and where the vehicle waits. 7 parking areas; Atatürk Oto Sanayi station is here.
Merkez Mahallesi
1.36 km² with 17.3 km of local streets; 19 percent are one-way or narrow and 51 percent steep. Only 2 parking areas are mapped and there is no level data. Residents mention deep potholes on Taşkıran and Nalbantçeşme streets.
Poligon Mahallesi
0.91 km² with 7.5 km of local streets; the steep-street share of 71 percent is the district's highest, average grade 11.1 percent. Only 3 percent of streets are narrow, and 14 parking areas are mapped.
Kocataş Mahallesi
2.01 km² with 11.5 km of local streets; the average grade of 13.5 percent is the district's highest and 70 percent of streets are steep. No narrow streets, but no mapped parking; a separate trip for heavy pieces makes sense.
Tarabya Mahallesi
2.56 km² with 36.3 km of local streets; 5 percent are one-way or narrow, 58 percent steep. It has the district's most mapped parking areas: 83, or 32.4 per km². Residents write that the shore side is crowded on summer evenings.

Pickup and packing tips for Sarıyer
1.Choose the room by home and by box
Rooms are 8 m³ for a 1+0, 15 m³ for a 1+1, 22 m³ for a 2+1 and 28 m³ for a 3+1. A flat's contents usually fit the room of the same name; furniture and rugs alone may need one size smaller. We settle it at the survey.
2.Plan heavy pieces separately on slopes
In Poligon, Kocataş, Kireçburnu and Cumhuriyet, 61–71 percent of streets are steep. We can take the fridge and large wardrobe in a separate trip; tell us beforehand how many steps there are.
3.Call the building management for towers
Maslak averages 29.1 floors (data for 12 percent of buildings) and Huzur 8.7 (14 percent). Learn the freight-lift rule and security registration from the management and pass them on.
4.Pick the stopping point on narrow streets
In Rumelihisarı, Maslak and Merkez the point a vehicle can reach may be limited; at the survey we choose the safest spot nearest the door and carry the boxes by hand. Do not reserve space with cones or fencing: the municipality says its enforcement teams act against unauthorised fences, stakes and cones blocking parking.
5.Mind the season and the day
Residents write that the shore road from Sarıyer centre to Beşiktaş clogs on summer weekends, so let us choose the pickup day together. In Zekeriyaköy they describe buses stuck on slopes in the February 2025 snow; in winter check the weather for forest-road addresses.

Questions about storage in Sarıyer
Do you collect from Kilyos or Zekeriyaköy?
Yes, we collect from the door anywhere in İstanbul. These addresses are not among our measured points; for Sarıyer centre, the farthest one, the calculation gives 55.6 km and 44 minutes without traffic. We work out the rest at the survey.
What if a vehicle cannot reach the door on a Bosphorus slope?
Items are carried on foot to the nearest stopping point. In Rumelihisarı 33 percent of local streets are one-way or narrow; at the survey we see the street and the walking distance and plan around them.
Can I store my Maslak office furniture and archive?
Yes, a room can be taken for office items. At plaza entrances the freight-lift rule and security registration can decide how things go; we measure the volume and choose a room between 8 and 28 m³ at the survey.
What should I do with old items I will not bring to storage?
The municipality's Environment page says appliances count as electronic waste and are collected from the address by appointment on 444 1 722. Bulky waste goes to the Waste Drop-off Centre at Ferahevler Mahallesi, Fıstık Çamı Sokak No:12; rubble needs an excavation permit. No at-home furniture pickup line is listed.
Does a moving vehicle need a permit from the municipality?
We found no rule for moving vehicles on the municipality's pages. To be sure, ask the call centre on 444 1 722 or write to zabita@sariyer.bel.tr.
