Maltepe storage

From Maltepe to our Sancaktepe depot is roughly 10–16 km, all on the Anatolian side with no Bosphorus crossing. The district holds the level streets of Yalı and a Gülensu where 59 % of local streets are steep, so we size the room and plan the loading around that gap.

At a glance

  • Neighbourhood with the highest share of narrow or one-way streets: Fındıklı (35 %).
  • Neighbourhood with the highest share of steep streets: Gülensu (59 %).
  • Smallest room: 1+0, 8 m³, ₺4,000 / month; the first month of room rent is on us.

Why Maltepe residents look for storage: demolition, renewal, smaller flats

Renewal is the main reason people here need space. A few residents write that in İdealtepe buildings of about ten flats have given way to blocks of about thirty, and others say construction in Zümrütevler has run for 10–15 years. During a renovation or a move into a new flat, the contents often cannot stay at home for a while, and a locked room covers that gap.

On the official side, İBB's Maltepe plan-note amendment on risky buildings covers 17 neighbourhoods. Under Law 6306 the municipality asks tenants applying for relocation aid for an e-Devlet residence history showing the risky building has been vacated. We cannot know which building will empty when; once you have a date we book a survey. Floor-count data on the map is thin: 28 % of buildings in Bağlarbaşı, 9 % in Yalı, 6 % in Altayçeşme and 0–3 % elsewhere, so we quote heights only as "according to the map".

Loading ground from the seafront up to the Kayışdağı slope

According to the Kaymakamlık geography page, the district's 50 km² of land climbs northward to about 480 metres, with the highest point on the Kayışdağı side. Car routes we calculated with OSRM / OpenStreetMap in September 2026 give 10.3 km and 12 minutes for the Maltepe centre, 13.1 km and 13 minutes for Esenkent and 16.2 km and 15 minutes for Bostancı. These are free-flow values and we promise no times. Residents write that side streets are in poor repair and that the E-5 and the coastal road clog at peak hours, so we agree the loading time per address.

In the street data the share of narrow or one-way roads stays at 35 % even in Fındıklı; the real divide is slope. The steep share is 20 % in Yalı and 59 % in Gülensu. In steep neighbourhoods boxes may be carried by hand from wherever the vehicle can stop; in Gülsuyu one resident writes that taxi drivers often refuse the climb. We found no published municipal rule on a moving vehicle temporarily using the road; on a narrow street ask the Zabıta in advance.

From the flat streets of Yalı to the ramps of Gülensu: six neighbourhoods

The figures are approximations calculated from OpenStreetMap and the Copernicus elevation model; read grades relative to the other neighbourhoods. We picked the six whose data differ most.

  • Yalı Mahallesi

2.265 km² holds 10.9 km of local street, 21 % of it one-way or narrow. A mean grade of 3.7 % makes it the flattest in the district, with 20 % of streets steep. The map shows 33 parking areas, 14.6 per km², the densest of any neighbourhood. Floor counts are mapped for 9 % of buildings, averaging 4.2 floors.

  • Gülensu Mahallesi

The mean grade is 9.5 % and 59 % of streets are steep, both the district's highest. There are 22.4 km of local street with no narrow roads, but no parking area is mapped. None of the 2,725 buildings has floor data. Where the vehicle can stop is the first topic of the survey.

  • Fındıklı Mahallesi

35 % of local streets are one-way or narrow, the highest share in the district, and 53 % are steep with a mean grade of 8 %. No parking area is mapped. With both difficulties together, we agree on the right vehicle size with you by phone.

  • Zümrütevler Mahallesi

Its 46.7 km is the longest local street network and 2,893 the most buildings. The mean grade is 7.6 % and 54 % of streets are steep. A mean of 11.4 floors appears, but only for 1 % of buildings. A few residents write that new estates stand beside older buildings.

  • Bağlarbaşı Mahallesi

Floor data is mapped most here: 28 % of 2,001 buildings, averaging 5.3 floors. Of 29.6 km of local street, 16 % is one-way or narrow, the mean grade is 5.4 % and the map has 13 parking areas. These are the firmest figures in the district.

  • Altıntepe Mahallesi

19 % of local streets are one-way or narrow and 37 % are steep; the map shows 4 parking areas. One resident writes that demolition and rebuilding along the minibus line near the Avenue is moving fast. The mean of 3 floors is mapped for only 1 % of buildings.

Practical suggestions for your Maltepe address

  1. 1.Start the room size from your flat

Our rooms are 8 m³ for a 1+0, 15 m³ for a 1+1, 22 m³ for a 2+1 and 28 m³ for a 3+1. The contents of a flat usually fit the room with the same name; a room one size down can be enough if you only store the few large pieces that do not fit the new flat. We measure together at the survey.

  2. 2.On ramp streets, find the stopping spot first

In Gülensu, Zümrütevler, Fındıklı, Başıbüyük and Gülsuyu, 50–59 % of local streets are steep. We fix the point where the vehicle can stop safely and the distance we will carry boxes at the survey; gathering boxes near the door shortens that distance.

  3. 3.In new estates and towers, ask about the goods lift

In Çınar, Zümrütevler and Cevizli the map shows average heights of 10–13 floors, but the data covers only 1–3 % of buildings. Learn the goods-lift hours and entry log from the management and tell us; it makes the day easier.

  4. 4.Separate what you will not keep from the start

We found no published procedure on the municipality's environment page for collecting old furniture or rubble. Setting aside what goes into the room and what gets thrown out saves cubic metres and loading time.

Questions about storage in Maltepe

Can you collect from a very steep neighbourhood such as Gülensu or Gülsuyu?

Yes, we collect from the door anywhere in İstanbul. 59 % of streets in Gülensu and 50 % in Gülsuyu are steep; if the vehicle cannot reach the door, we carry boxes by hand to where it can stop. We settle the distance and crew size at the free survey on site.

Do we cross the Bosphorus going from Maltepe to the depot?

No. Our depot is in Sancaktepe on the Anatolian side, and so is Maltepe. The free-flow time we calculated with OSRM in September 2026 is 10–15 minutes, but a loaded vehicle and busy hours can differ.

I am leaving a building due for demolition; when can my things go into the room?

The municipality asks for the e-Devlet document showing vacancy for tenant aid; the timing of that document is set by the municipality and the authorities. Once your things are ready we book a survey and plan the room and moving day together.

Do I need municipal permission for the moving vehicle?

We found no published rule on the municipality's site about a moving vehicle temporarily using the road. On a narrow or one-way street we suggest asking the Zabıta in advance and letting us know the date.
