Ataşehir storage

From Ataşehir our depot in Sancaktepe is roughly 11–16 km away, on the same Anatolian side with no Bosphorus crossing. In Atatürk 53 percent of local streets are one-way or narrow, in Yenisahra 58 percent are steep: two loading situations in one district.

At a glance

  • Neighbourhood with the highest share of narrow or one-way streets: Atatürk (53 %).
  • Neighbourhood with the highest share of steep streets: Yenisahra (58 %).
  • Smallest room: 1+0, 8 m³, ₺4,000 / month; the first month of room rent is on us.

High-rise blocks and streets awaiting renewal: why things wait in Ataşehir

The District Governorate says the district was founded in 2008 from neighbourhoods split off from Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Kartal and Ümraniye, and has 17 neighbourhoods; official pages give 25–26 km². It describes older settlement with extensive gecekondu renewal beside high-rise housing and business centres. Mapped level data averages 10.7 storeys in Atatürk and 10.6 in Barbaros, but covers only 18 and 7 percent of buildings.

The Metropolitan Municipality's Ataşehir zoning-note amendment applies the risky-building rule to the master plans of Aşıkveysel, Barbaros, Mustafa Kemal and Yenisahra. The Municipality says Article 18 work in İçerenköy is going on display stage by stage, and publishes rent-support document lists for owners and tenants. While a building is rebuilt, belongings can wait for months; one resident writes that older Mustafa Kemal buildings marked for renewal are still being let. A locked room is a practical stopgap, and around İçerenköy a small room for office archives is possible; we have no documented data on demand.

From Mevlana to the Kozyatağı end: the road to the depot

Our depot is in Abdurrahmangazi, Sancaktepe, on the same Anatolian side, so the vehicle never crosses the Bosphorus. Our car-profile estimate from OSRM / OpenStreetMap (September 2026) gives 10.8 km and 10 minutes without traffic from Mevlana, 13.7 km and 14 minutes from the district centre and 16.1 km from the Kozyatağı end; overall about 11–16 km and 10–15 minutes. Traffic can change this, so we promise no time. Items are collected from your door anywhere in Istanbul and brought back when you ask.

Residents write that since the Financial Centre and Technopark opened, finding on-street parking in the centre after 09.30 is very difficult. We found no published rule on the Municipality's site about a moving vehicle using the road, and it says cameras detect parking violations. So we fix the stopping place and loading time at the survey.

From Atatürk to Ferhatpaşa: street data for seven neighbourhoods

Computed from OpenStreetMap and the Copernicus elevation model, so approximate. We chose the seven neighbourhoods whose numbers differ most.

  • Atatürk Mahallesi

Of 20.5 km of local streets, 53 percent are one-way or narrow, the district's highest share; mean grade 4.7 percent, 29 percent steep. 126 parking areas are mapped, the most in the district. The difficulty is where the vehicle stands, not the slope.

  • Örnek Mahallesi

No parking area is mapped; 5 percent of 19.4 km of local streets are one-way or narrow. Residents describe streets without pavements and roads where two cars cannot pass, so the mapped share may understate the situation.

  • Yenisahra Mahallesi

Mean grade 9.7 percent and 58 percent of streets steep, both the district's highest. None of its 14.6 km of local streets is narrow; 4 parking areas are mapped. A few residents write that inner streets are very steep.

  • Kayışdağı Mahallesi

1 percent of 36.7 km of local streets are one-way or narrow; mean grade 5.5 percent, 39 percent steep, 28 parking areas. Residents call it one of Istanbul's steeper areas; the average may hide the steepest parts, so we check the address.

  • Mevlana Mahallesi

Our measuring point closest to the depot: 10.8 km, 10 minutes without traffic. 2 percent of 13.6 km of local streets are one-way or narrow, 42 percent steep; mean grade 6.1 percent, 16 parking areas.

  • Ferhatpaşa Mahallesi

The district's largest neighbourhood: 3.867 km². None of its 45.7 km of local streets is narrow; mean grade 3.5 percent and 14 percent steep are the district's lowest. 4 parking areas are mapped.

  • İçerenköy Mahallesi

With 51.9 km of local streets and 4,291 buildings, the district's largest street network and building count. 9 percent of streets are one-way or narrow, 35 percent steep, 34 parking areas. Residents write that evening parking is hard to find.

From Atatürk's one-way streets to Yenisahra's slopes: preparation notes

  1. 1.Pick the room size by the volume of your things

Rooms are 8 m³ for a 1+0, 15 m³ for a 1+1, 22 m³ for a 2+1 and 28 m³ for a 3+1. A home's contents usually fit the room of the same name; furniture waiting out a refit may fit one size smaller.

  2. 2.Reserve the vehicle's waiting spot on one-way streets

In Atatürk 53 percent of local streets are one-way or narrow, in İnönü 33 percent. We choose a stopping spot at the survey; gathering boxes near it shortens the carry.

  3. 3.Separate heavy pieces on slopes

In Yenisahra, Aşıkveysel and Mimar Sinan 52–58 percent of streets are steep, so the vehicle may stand some way from the door. Residents write of winter icing in Kayışdağı; keep the day flexible.

  4. 4.Keep an inventory during renewal

Label boxes by room and separate what is stored from what is thrown away. You can visit the room on any day without an appointment, so put the boxes you will need first.

Questions about storage in Ataşehir

Can you collect from the one-way streets of Atatürk?

Yes. 53 percent of streets there are one-way or narrow but the grade is low; the question is where the vehicle stands. We choose the stopping point nearest the door at the survey.

What if the vehicle cannot reach the door in a steep area like Yenisahra?

Boxes are carried by hand from where the vehicle can stand. On steep streets that can be far, so we plan a separate run for heavy items at the survey.

How should I prepare when leaving a risky building?

Rent support is the Municipality's own process. It says it takes refit rubble and excavation waste to a dumping site; we found no published schedule for old furniture. On your side, separate what goes into the room from what is thrown away.

Can I store a small office's archive or spare furniture?

Yes, office items can be stored too. We have no data on office demand here; we settle room size and handling at the free survey.
