What brings people to storage in Ümraniye
The District Governorate lists 35 neighbourhoods and 728,913 residents; the Municipality gives 45 km² and 674,131. Neither states the year, so both are approximate. One resident writes that after the metro and the pandemic, older detached houses gave way to apartment blocks and residences; a single-source remark, but it hints at why new flats leave things without a home.
Level data is mapped for 0–3 percent of buildings in most neighbourhoods (14 percent in Parseller, the highest). The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's March 2022 zoning-note amendment applies the risky-building rule to every planning area, and the Municipality publishes rent and evacuation support petitions. We found no announced transformation area. During an evacuation or refit, a locked room is a practical stopgap.
From Ümraniye to the depot, and loading
Ümraniye and the depot are on the same side of the city, so the vehicle never crosses the Bosphorus. Our car-profile estimate from OSRM / OpenStreetMap (September 2026) gives about 8–18 km and 8–16 minutes without traffic: 7.7 km and 8 minutes from the Necip Fazıl side, 11.9 km and 12 minutes to the district centre, 17.6 km and 16 minutes at the farthest point. A loaded vehicle and traffic change this, so we promise no time. Residents write that the Çarşı area is hard to enter in the afternoon, so we choose the loading time with you.
In Madenler 75 percent of local streets are one-way or narrow, in Atatürk and Şerifali 52 percent; there the question is where the vehicle waits, not the slope. Topağacı has no narrow streets but a mean grade of 10 percent and 64 percent of streets steep, so some boxes may be carried by hand. Dudullu OSB is the opposite, at 2.2 percent. The Municipality's service guide has no rule on a moving vehicle using the road temporarily, so on one-way streets ask Zabıta first.
From Topağacı's slopes to the flat ground of Dudullu OSB
Computed from OpenStreetMap and the Copernicus elevation model, so approximate. We chose seven neighbourhoods whose numbers differ most.
Madenler Mahallesi
10 km of local streets in 0.8 km², 75 percent of them one-way or narrow, the district's highest share. Mean grade is 3.3 percent, 16 percent steep. 6 parking areas are mapped.
Şerifali Mahallesi
52 percent of local streets are one-way or narrow, mean grade 3.8 percent. One parking area is mapped. A few posts say access is from the side road toward Ataşehir.
Topağacı Mahallesi
The district's steepest neighbourhood: mean grade 10 percent, 64 percent of local streets steep. None of its 33.3 km of local streets is narrow, and only 2 parking areas show; across 1,468 buildings, tagged level data rounds to 0 percent (averaging 4 storeys where tagged).
Necip Fazıl Mahallesi
The closest of our three measuring points to the depot: 7.7 km and 8 minutes without traffic. 3 percent of local streets are one-way or narrow and 36 percent steep; 10 parking areas are mapped, and the M5 station is here.
Finanskent Mahallesi
Tower fabric: an average of 25.5 storeys, with level data for only 2 percent of buildings. No narrow streets, mean grade 7.1 percent, no mapped parking area.
Dudullu OSB Mahallesi
Only 385 buildings in 2.9 km², with 26.3 km of local streets beside 14.6 km of through roads. Mean grade 2.2 percent is the district's flattest; 8 percent of streets are steep. The M8 İmes station is here.
Yamanevler Mahallesi
With 18 parking areas it has the district's highest count (13.1 per km²). 22 percent of local streets are one-way or narrow, mean grade 3.5 percent. Three M5 stations fall within its data.

From tower entrances to Alemdağ Avenue: Ümraniye advice
1.A 2+1 or a 3+1 in Ümraniye? Tie the room to the flat
Rooms are 8 m³ for a 1+0, 15 m³ for a 1+1, 22 m³ for a 2+1 and 28 m³ for a 3+1. A flat usually fits the room of the same name.
2.Agree the waiting spot on one-way streets
In Madenler, Atatürk, Şerifali, Esenkent and Mehmet Akif, 35–75 percent of local streets are one-way or narrow. We pick a spot where the vehicle can stop without blocking traffic.
3.Split heavy pieces in steep neighbourhoods
In Topağacı, Tatlısu, Dumlupınar and Çamlık, 51–64 percent of streets are steep. Ask about a separate run for the fridge and large wardrobe.
4.Talk to management in towers
In Finanskent and Aşağı Dudullu the mapped average is about 25 storeys, yet that data covers only 1–2 percent of buildings. Ask management about freight-lift rules and security sign-in.
5.Write the address with the neighbourhood
Residents say Alemdağ Caddesi restarts its numbering at the district boundary, so one number can appear twice. A neighbourhood and building name avoids the wrong door.

Questions about storage in Ümraniye
Can you collect from one-way streets such as Madenler or Atatürk?
Yes. Local streets there are 52–75 percent one-way or narrow but the grade is low. At the survey we choose the safest stopping point nearest the door.
What if the vehicle cannot reach the door in a steep area like Topağacı?
Boxes are carried by hand to wherever the vehicle can stand. At a mean grade of 10 percent that distance can be long, so we plan crew size and a separate run for heavy items at the survey.
Can you collect from a flat or an office in Finanskent?
Yes, we collect from the door anywhere in Istanbul. In towers the freight lift and security sign-in decide the plan.
How should I prepare when leaving a risky building?
Rent and evacuation support are the Municipality's own process. Separate what goes into the room from what is thrown away; the Municipality says it collects bagged rubble and old furniture such as sofas on request.
